Science Camp 2013

Hello! I just came back from Natural Hills Lembang to attend an event held by my school, that's Science Camp 2013. It was held for 2 days 1 night.  The motto of Science Camp 2013 is Cogito Ergo Sum. It was taken from a Latin philosophical proposition by RenĂ© Descartes. It means "I think, therefore I am". The aim from this event is to make a strong and powerful team to lift up SMA Negeri 3 Bandung's reputation.

I was being taught a little about geography by Kang Alfanda and Mr. Priyadi. Kang is how you call other older people(boy) in Sundanese. Kang Alfanda got a silver medal in a national Olympiad in geography subject. He's my mentor for my research and olympiad in geography.

On Friday, 9 October 2015, we gathered at school at 6.30 am and then went to Natural Hills at around 7.30 am. We went there by angkot (public transportation). We finally arrived at around 9.00 am. I was so excited! After that we can unpack our things in our own rooms. My roommates are Diekea, Dini, Kami, and Fani.

At first, we gathered at the hall to hear opening speeches from Mr. Encang, Mr. Irvan, Ms. Diana, and The Alya. Teh is how you call older people (girl) in Sundanese. Then we had to watch IT presentation from LIPI. The second agenda is we have to gather with our own sectors. There are many sectors such as Geography, Geology, Astronomy, Economy, Sosiology, Biology, Mathematics, Physics, IT, environment research, and Chemistry.

In the second agenda we had to do a research about geography, At first we were so confused because Geography is such a general topic, but finally we could do it! While we were thinking about the specific topic that we would take, Kang Alfanda suggested us to visit Curug Panganten that's located near our basecamp area. By the way, Curug means waterfall, and Panganten is the name of the waterfall.

Curug Panganten

We asked for permission to go there, but the committee said that we can't go any further from the intersection because the path to go there is long and is steep. So we took some photos only at saung (a place to shelter made from bamboos) and at the intersection. But that's okay because we still can see the beautiful scenery of Curug Panganten and the hills or wet rice field from a far. So we decided to make a presentation about the difference between Greece and Indonesia. I'm the moderator of the presentation. I'm glad that the audience were active and paid attention to us.

I met so many new friends at this event. They're Yazid, Anhar, Kami, Dini, Adisya, Sekar,  Hilda, Luthfi, the committees and many more. I became closer to Nova and Dabim. Have I told you that I wondered about why his name is Dabim? Finally I got the answer! It's like the abbreviation of Dafa Bimantara. I was fooled!
Dabim aka Dafa Bimantara

Anytime at this event, I tried to take as many pictures as I can. Because later in the future this will be just memories, and pictures are the only thing that freezes the time.

After every sectors had presented their own research, We gathered at the field to do Muhasabah. Muhasabah is like musing about your life until now, so you can remember what's your goal, how important our mothers are, and how we have to hold strongly to our dream and chase it. We did it while sitting around the campfire.

After that everyone was sent to their own rooms to get a good night sleep. But I just can't! I'm always hungry at midnight, so I had to made an instant noodles. And then I took a bath at around 00.30 am. It was so cold, and the hot water wasn't being turned on at night. Then I slept at 01.00 am.

But I had to wake up at 4.30 am and pray Shubuh. After praying, some of my friends went back to their sleep because it's so cold in Lembang! Maybe in 05.00 am the temperature reached 15 degrees celcius? I'm not sure since I wasn't checking the temperature. I said that 15 degrees is cold because usually in Bandung, the lowest temperature in the morning is just 19 degrees celcius. Back to the story. I took a picture of a tree at dawn because It's pretty. There's a photo competition in this science camp. At first I want to hand over the tree at dawn to the committee or post it in Instagram, but I haven't made the scientific caption about it. So I didn't manage to join the competition. So sad :(

After that we did a little body exercise, stretching, and gymnastics with the teachers. And then once again we went to the intersection on the way to Curug Panganten. But this time, not only the geography team that went down, but also everyone. I took some photos with my friends there.

And then we played a game. The background of the game is:
"One day, Trilogy city lost an artefact that was placed in the Ristek Museum in the center of the city. The mayor wants it back because if the artefact is missing, then the identity of the city will be withdrew. After carefully observating the location where it was stolen, there are many datas that were found. There was a witness, that's the security, he was ambushed and it made him unconscious when he was looking at the night sky. In the night sky, there was an Aries constellation, but he didn't remember any of the event after that. The security was found unconscious beside the CCTV control room.

All of the access to the museum had no damage at all. But half of the museum rooms were so messy. The iron door has been damaged, and there're shards of glasses with blood. In the storage room, there's only its standplate left. Near the exit, there was a Happy Birthday card and a burnt paper that consist codes to crack. In the CCTV room, there's a blurry fingerprint at the access lock.

There's 4 people that's suspected to be the culprit. They're Alya the guide tour, Diana the secretary, Al Terra the office boy, and Fanda the head of the museum. What you have to do is find who is the culprit by cracking all the codes from all the clues that we have earned at the location."

Everyone was divided to 5 groups. I'm group 1. In every group there're people from different sectors. And we had to find the culprit by answering the question from each sectors. We have to solve the question from our own sectors and connect it to the clues. It made me feel like I'm the real geographer! The question was so hard! But I'm really amazed by how Kang Alfanda made the question. Maybe it's hard because I only knew a little piece of Geography. I worked with Raka to solve the problem. He's from Geology. But we had different questions. His were only 2 question, but I got 5 question. It was all connected. And we found that the culprit is between Diana and Al Terra.

Because we're the first group, so we presentated it first. But I wonder why there're no audience. Only the judges and the culprits. I found out later that other groups had an extra time because they're not presenting it. They wrote the answers down on a paper. All of the sectors in our group answer that the culprit was between Diana and Al Terra. Then the real culprit was Diana because the IT sector succeeded in cracking the code in the CCTV room. It was Diana who broke in and stole the artefact. My heart was beating like crazy when I presented this because I really want our group won this game. But we only got the 2nd place :(

But It's okay because we have worked hard and all out! It was fun indeed. Thank you for my seniors who had created this game. :)

The Prize of winning the 2nd place

After that we have to fly three kites. The committees are observating the process and how the kites flew. And the winner of this game is so unexpected. It's the teacher team! Hahaha

And the winner of the photography contest was revealed. That's Rezky! Congratulation to all the winner of the games!

Rezky's picture of Flying Mantis

After packing, we went back to the hall to attend the closing event, the announcement of the winners, and then took some photos again. After eating lunch, we got into angkot and then went back to SMA Negeri 3 Bandung. Thank God we arrived safely!

After all, I'm so happy to be a part of Science Camp III 2015. I want to be the committee of next year's science camp, but that means I have to learn geography harder, join trilogy and win the olympiads! The nature is beautiful, and we have to take care of it. We live on earth but why do we not knowing any thing about this planet? Now I know why I love Geography :)

Thank you for visiting my blog. See you on the next post!

Culture Festival: GAMARVANI part II

Good evening! As I promised, I’m going to make a sequel of Gamarvani part 1. Because I only came for the morning part (parade) of gamarvani and came again at around 1 pm until 4 pm, so I’m just telling you a little experience of me coming to Gamarvani. And here it is. Check it out!

All of 10th grade in 3 Senior High School Bandung must come in the morning to join the parade. We’re all have to dressed in kebaya and pangsi (traditional clothes of Sundanese) and campaigning the event. The route of the Parade is from Jl. Bali, Jl. Belitung, Jl. Sumatra, Jl. Merdeka, Jl. Jawa, and back to Jl. Bali. It started at around 7 o’clock. There’re so many people gathered at Jl. Bali, especially students of 3 Senior High School. There are other participants of parade from elementary school too. They’re dressed in traditional clothes too, but with full attires and make ups. They brought some properties like posters, umbrellas, ritual offerings, flowers, etc. They looked very happy to participate in this parade.

My class only consist of 13 people, so we have to join with social class. At first I had to register our team for parade at a tent at Jl. Bali. Then one by one my friends showed up. We gathered and chatted while waiting for the committee. Then the committee told us to make 3 lines at the edge of the street orderly. Baiq(my friend from accel) entrusted her camera to Raka(my friend from accel, also a committee) so he could record or captured the moments while we’re doing the parade.

And then the parade started. We’re all shouting and yelling. The pathway was interferred by the large group of the parade. The streets are crowded. So many people were looking at us and maybe wondering about what are we doing. But we didn’t even care. We kept on shouting GAMARVANI till our throats hurts.

When we’re tired in the middle of parade, we talked and chatted about many things. I was introduced to some new friends, such as Dabim and Nova from XIPA3. I know them from Rezky, an old friend of mine from junior high school. And I was introduced to Faris, from social class. I knew him from Aruni, my friend from Acceleration class, and also my friend from the same junior high school. I’m happy to know them. They’re nice to talk to. And beside that, I always wonder if they’ll allow me to pinch their chubby cheek. Because I can’t stand their fluffiness!

Then the parade ended before we even realized it was. We rested for a bit before the committee opened the gate by watching Pencak Silat performed by Gadjah Putih Mega Paksi Pusaka. Many people who watched it are scared because the person who performed it was comprehended it fully. But they’re awesome, they danced like they didn’t know the meaning of  exhausted.

The gate was finally opened. I came in with my friends and saw beautiful decorations on both sides of the welcoming tents. The decoration team are awesome. And the one who came up with the idea to choose folklore of Nyi Anteh is awesome too. I love how well they described the story of Nyi Anteh into some drawings and paintings.

When I walked out of the welcoming tent, all I saw was a main huge stage and food tents or food trucks! I suddenly remembered that I’m hungry and thirsty from shouting GAMARVANI all the way at parade. I was looking everywhere, searching for good and delicious foods to eat. And there are soo many foods that I couldn’t choose one only! There’re also many communities tents. But people hadn’t come at morning because the main event hadn’t started.

I was so tired after the parade, so I decided to come back to my room. My friends wanted to take a rest too, so they went along with me to my room. They changed their clothes there and so do I. But I had to go to Daniel because I needed to unserstand some topics for the test.

I got back to my room to put the books and walked by myself to Jl. Bali. I waited for my friends at the front gate. There are already many people inside, and the music is loud too. When I called my friends, it turned out that they’re eating at Upnormal cafe without me! L. So I searched for another friend that could accompany me to go inside. Finally I found one! That’s Abbel, from XIPA9. He’s my friend that I knew because we’re from the same junior high school. When I searched for my ticket, Rezky accosted me. He said that his ticket was entrusted to Nova, but Nova is inside. So I decided to help him searching for Nova.

My body and my bag was checked. And as the regulation said, I must not bring weapons, narcotics, perfume, cigars, and foods/drinks from outside. I only brought some money to buy some foods or drinks, my phone, a comb, and my little pouch. But... my comb became confiscated item L But it’s not even a weapon. Why did they take it? Now I have to buy a new one L.

Me and Abbel surrounded the arena for about 3-5 times to search for delish foods and Nova. But we didn’t find him anywhere inside. So I called Rezky to tell him that Nova wasn’t inside. Then I continued searching for foods again. Abbel recommend me to come the one of the food trucks, that’s sushi stall. It smelt so good, and the taste is good too! The price was so so for sushi. Maybe something that I should complain about was the portion of sushi that was too small.

I came at around 1 pm so I could watch KV3 performing. Their voice and the way the harmonized their voice are the things that I adore from them. I watched them happily with Abbel while I’m eating sushi. Then suddenly Rezky came with Nova and Dabim. And the conversation that was going on between me and them was:

Me: “Rezky! Finally you got in here! Where did you find Nova?”
Rezky didn’t answer my question, he just smiled and laughed by himseld. But nothing was funny L.
Nova: “You must know Naura, I waited for him from 12 o’clock at my room to give him his
ticket! But he went around by himself so he was strayed. Why did you know about this?”
Naura: “Because Rezky said that I had to help him finding his ticket so he could get in. I was
searching for you because I was pitying him. Why do you keep laughing Rezky?!”
And finally I know why he was laughing by himself. That’s because he was embarassed.

Anyway, I didn’t get satisfied only by eating one food. So I searched for foods once again with Rezky, Nova, and Dabim. We found something that seemed delicious. It’s called Bite Box because we eat rice/mashed potato in a small box. The packaging is cute, and the portion is enough for me. I ordered Dori with green rice and with cheese toppings and nori crumbles. It’s delicious!

I took some photos with my friends in front of the stage. After Ashar break, the field had become more crowded. I watched the rest of the event until 4 pm. There were more people came there. I even met my friend from junior high school and from Duta Anak Bandung. I waved and said hello to them. But the area had become dustier, and I couldn’t breath freely because of the crowds. So I decided to get out of the field before the committee closed the gate. I said goodbye to all my friends, and thanked them for today. It was such a tiring but happy day!

Culture Festival: GAMARVANI Part I

Hello buds! Today I wanna tell you briefly about an event called GAMARVANI. Gamarvani is Sundanese culture festival that was held by SMA Negeri 3 Bandung at Lapangan Bali on Saturday, 19th of September 2015. I came and I had a lot of fun! I met some old friends from junior high, or people that I knew before. The event was pretty cool even though I only attend it in the morning for joining parade and left before the main event started.

There are many people when the gate is open though it's still morning. I have exchanged the receipt to ticket one day before the event, so I just need to get in and get body checked by KANST. When I walked in, I have to walk through a tent, where the story of Nyi Anteh was being told by the decorations inside the tent. The decorations are beautiful, especially the huge ones that's attached to the stage. I saw the pictures and videos that my friends sent, and I was mesmerized. It was shining at night!

Overall, GAMARVANI is such a huge event, and it succeed, and I'm proud of it. There's nothing better than knowing your own country's culture!

p.s.: I'll continue this post, so see ya later!
