Tie Dye: Expressing With Colors

Hallo! Last Monday me and my friends did some works of art: Tie Dye! We tried to make it as colorful as we could! Here's my group's result:

And other group's results:

They're pretty right? We made all these colorful fabric with  the materials below:
Cotton 1x1 m
Kettle and stove

textile dyes
Water

A spoon
marbles

sharp scisscor

little rocks
Salt

Big plastic bowl
thread
Raffia fibre

Steps:
1. Turn on the stove
2. Pour the water into the kettle and boil it.
3. Cut the cotton fabric into the size that you need.
4. Because there are so many techniques to make different patterns, in here I'll tell you in general. But the point is, you have to tie the fabric, whether you're using the  rubber, raffia fibre, thread or anything. And you can modificate it using rocks, marbles, or try different folds.
5. pour the tint into a bowl.
6. sprinkle half handful of salt.
7. Pour the water into the bowl.
8. stir it using spoon
9. dye the fabric anyhow you want!
10. If you feel that it's the final color you want, then untie all the threads!
11. And voila! The fabric i now tie dyed! You can sew the fabric into something like pencil cas, tote bags, or tablecloth.

Aaand someone took some photos of us while we were doing tie dye:

Look at how serious our faces are! hahahaha, Thank you for reading! And for those who's reading this article and will try to make something like this, I hope yours are gonna be a good mix of color. See you in the next postings!

Where to Visit in Bandung: Alun-Alun Bandung (Bandung Town Square)

Holla! Today I'm gonna recommend you about a good place for you to visit in Bandung; Alun-Alun Bandung! Alun-alun means Town Square. I just visited it yesterday night with my family. It was the same time when Bobotoh did a parade because PERSIB just won in the finals a week ago! Yay! But it's also a nay because everywhere in bandung, even at night, became so noisy and crowded. I can't even walk across the road because all motorcycles were driving at excessive speed. But another night in Bandung doesn't mean the roads will be quiet. Bandung is the city that never sleeps. It feels so alive at night.

I've always missed times like this, when me and my parents walking at night on the pavement after parking our car somewhere. We're gonna walk to somewhere interesting to visit. And yesterday I did it.

At around 10 pm, we went out and found a place to park on Jl. Banceuy. At night  there were so many street vendors. They sold foods (pecel lele, seafood, sop kaki kambing), and drinks. We stroll around, taking pictures at Alun-Alun. I didn't wear pants because I was in rush, so the cold kinda gets to my feet.

In Alun-Alun, stood Masjid Raya Bandung. The mosque is in gold color, with 2 towers and has domes as the roof. I couldn't go inside because it was locked. So instead of getting inside, I was watching the night sky with other people in the yard.

There were many people there. They came that night to celebrate the winning of PERSIB Bandung. They came with their family, with their frinds, and their lovers. The children played rubber ball that bounces everywhere in the yard. The yard was made from synthetic grass. The children also played a shining catapult (I'm not sure that this is what it's called). There were also children who played at children playground. They enjoyed playing swings, see-saw, and slides.

After I took some photos, I went back to Jl. Banceuy to eat at one of the street vendors's tent. I chose to eat sop kaki kambing.

My mom chose to eat shrimp with sweet and sour sauce. I drank my orange juice as I chat with my parents. After we filled our stomach, We went back to our car and went home. It was such a happy family night out!

HORIZON: Feel The Journey

Good morning! Today I wanna tell you that I've made a poster about an event called HORIZON: Feel The Journey!

Actually in my previous school, there's a bazaar that was called HORIZON too. And I got the inspiration from that. But that real HORIZON event's idea was also from me because I was a part of the bazaar committee. But this time I let my imagination take over the reality so this advertisement may seem impossible, hahaha.

And, of course this is a fictional event, because if it's real, it's gonna cost a lot more.

HORIZON poster

Yea as this is a fictional event, so all those accounts are fake too. BUT, I'm here not to talk about all the fakeness in this event, but to tell you about the HORIZON (fictional) event.

Science Camp 2013

Hello! I just came back from Natural Hills Lembang to attend an event held by my school, that's Science Camp 2013. It was held for 2 days 1 night.  The motto of Science Camp 2013 is Cogito Ergo Sum. It was taken from a Latin philosophical proposition by RenĂ© Descartes. It means "I think, therefore I am". The aim from this event is to make a strong and powerful team to lift up SMA Negeri 3 Bandung's reputation.

I was being taught a little about geography by Kang Alfanda and Mr. Priyadi. Kang is how you call other older people(boy) in Sundanese. Kang Alfanda got a silver medal in a national Olympiad in geography subject. He's my mentor for my research and olympiad in geography.

On Friday, 9 October 2015, we gathered at school at 6.30 am and then went to Natural Hills at around 7.30 am. We went there by angkot (public transportation). We finally arrived at around 9.00 am. I was so excited! After that we can unpack our things in our own rooms. My roommates are Diekea, Dini, Kami, and Fani.

At first, we gathered at the hall to hear opening speeches from Mr. Encang, Mr. Irvan, Ms. Diana, and The Alya. Teh is how you call older people (girl) in Sundanese. Then we had to watch IT presentation from LIPI. The second agenda is we have to gather with our own sectors. There are many sectors such as Geography, Geology, Astronomy, Economy, Sosiology, Biology, Mathematics, Physics, IT, environment research, and Chemistry.

In the second agenda we had to do a research about geography, At first we were so confused because Geography is such a general topic, but finally we could do it! While we were thinking about the specific topic that we would take, Kang Alfanda suggested us to visit Curug Panganten that's located near our basecamp area. By the way, Curug means waterfall, and Panganten is the name of the waterfall.

Curug Panganten

We asked for permission to go there, but the committee said that we can't go any further from the intersection because the path to go there is long and is steep. So we took some photos only at saung (a place to shelter made from bamboos) and at the intersection. But that's okay because we still can see the beautiful scenery of Curug Panganten and the hills or wet rice field from a far. So we decided to make a presentation about the difference between Greece and Indonesia. I'm the moderator of the presentation. I'm glad that the audience were active and paid attention to us.

I met so many new friends at this event. They're Yazid, Anhar, Kami, Dini, Adisya, Sekar,  Hilda, Luthfi, the committees and many more. I became closer to Nova and Dabim. Have I told you that I wondered about why his name is Dabim? Finally I got the answer! It's like the abbreviation of Dafa Bimantara. I was fooled!
Dabim aka Dafa Bimantara

Anytime at this event, I tried to take as many pictures as I can. Because later in the future this will be just memories, and pictures are the only thing that freezes the time.

After every sectors had presented their own research, We gathered at the field to do Muhasabah. Muhasabah is like musing about your life until now, so you can remember what's your goal, how important our mothers are, and how we have to hold strongly to our dream and chase it. We did it while sitting around the campfire.

After that everyone was sent to their own rooms to get a good night sleep. But I just can't! I'm always hungry at midnight, so I had to made an instant noodles. And then I took a bath at around 00.30 am. It was so cold, and the hot water wasn't being turned on at night. Then I slept at 01.00 am.

But I had to wake up at 4.30 am and pray Shubuh. After praying, some of my friends went back to their sleep because it's so cold in Lembang! Maybe in 05.00 am the temperature reached 15 degrees celcius? I'm not sure since I wasn't checking the temperature. I said that 15 degrees is cold because usually in Bandung, the lowest temperature in the morning is just 19 degrees celcius. Back to the story. I took a picture of a tree at dawn because It's pretty. There's a photo competition in this science camp. At first I want to hand over the tree at dawn to the committee or post it in Instagram, but I haven't made the scientific caption about it. So I didn't manage to join the competition. So sad :(

After that we did a little body exercise, stretching, and gymnastics with the teachers. And then once again we went to the intersection on the way to Curug Panganten. But this time, not only the geography team that went down, but also everyone. I took some photos with my friends there.

And then we played a game. The background of the game is:
"One day, Trilogy city lost an artefact that was placed in the Ristek Museum in the center of the city. The mayor wants it back because if the artefact is missing, then the identity of the city will be withdrew. After carefully observating the location where it was stolen, there are many datas that were found. There was a witness, that's the security, he was ambushed and it made him unconscious when he was looking at the night sky. In the night sky, there was an Aries constellation, but he didn't remember any of the event after that. The security was found unconscious beside the CCTV control room.

All of the access to the museum had no damage at all. But half of the museum rooms were so messy. The iron door has been damaged, and there're shards of glasses with blood. In the storage room, there's only its standplate left. Near the exit, there was a Happy Birthday card and a burnt paper that consist codes to crack. In the CCTV room, there's a blurry fingerprint at the access lock.

There's 4 people that's suspected to be the culprit. They're Alya the guide tour, Diana the secretary, Al Terra the office boy, and Fanda the head of the museum. What you have to do is find who is the culprit by cracking all the codes from all the clues that we have earned at the location."

Everyone was divided to 5 groups. I'm group 1. In every group there're people from different sectors. And we had to find the culprit by answering the question from each sectors. We have to solve the question from our own sectors and connect it to the clues. It made me feel like I'm the real geographer! The question was so hard! But I'm really amazed by how Kang Alfanda made the question. Maybe it's hard because I only knew a little piece of Geography. I worked with Raka to solve the problem. He's from Geology. But we had different questions. His were only 2 question, but I got 5 question. It was all connected. And we found that the culprit is between Diana and Al Terra.

Because we're the first group, so we presentated it first. But I wonder why there're no audience. Only the judges and the culprits. I found out later that other groups had an extra time because they're not presenting it. They wrote the answers down on a paper. All of the sectors in our group answer that the culprit was between Diana and Al Terra. Then the real culprit was Diana because the IT sector succeeded in cracking the code in the CCTV room. It was Diana who broke in and stole the artefact. My heart was beating like crazy when I presented this because I really want our group won this game. But we only got the 2nd place :(

But It's okay because we have worked hard and all out! It was fun indeed. Thank you for my seniors who had created this game. :)

The Prize of winning the 2nd place

After that we have to fly three kites. The committees are observating the process and how the kites flew. And the winner of this game is so unexpected. It's the teacher team! Hahaha

And the winner of the photography contest was revealed. That's Rezky! Congratulation to all the winner of the games!

Rezky's picture of Flying Mantis

After packing, we went back to the hall to attend the closing event, the announcement of the winners, and then took some photos again. After eating lunch, we got into angkot and then went back to SMA Negeri 3 Bandung. Thank God we arrived safely!

After all, I'm so happy to be a part of Science Camp III 2015. I want to be the committee of next year's science camp, but that means I have to learn geography harder, join trilogy and win the olympiads! The nature is beautiful, and we have to take care of it. We live on earth but why do we not knowing any thing about this planet? Now I know why I love Geography :)

Thank you for visiting my blog. See you on the next post!
